A demo of Super Mario Run was made available at Apple Store outlets worldwide starting December 8, 2016. The full game costs USD$9.99 (the price slightly varies in some countries), with a limited-time 50% discount of USD$4.99 from Septemto Octo(to coincide with the version 3.0.4 release) and from Mato Ma(celebrating Mario Day). Super Mario Run is free-to-start, with the first four courses of World Tour available to play, as well time-restricted play of Toad Rally and Remix 10. Super Mario Run is also the first Mario game to be officially localized to Portuguese for Brazil. Super Mario Run was the most widely available Nintendo-related mobile game-available in every territory where Google Play and/or the iOS App Store were also officially available in March 2017, except for Algeria, China (iOS only), Georgia (Android only), Iceland, Kenya, and Myanmar (Android only)-until November 2, 2021, when Pikmin Bloom became officially available in 180 markets. However, circa 2020, the game was delisted in Vietnam for undisclosed reasons. The game was initially released exclusively on iOS in 150 territories on December 15, 2016, released in South Korea on February 1, 2017, and released on Android devices, as well as 14 additional territories, on March 22, 2017. It is the second mobile application developed and published by Nintendo (following Miitomo), and the first Mario mobile game. This game was developed with the Unity game engine. Nintendo markets the game as the first Super Mario title that can be played with one hand. The game features four modes: World Tour, the main game mode where players go through 6 different worlds to rescue Princess Peach Kingdom Builder, where players can customize their own kingdom with different objects Toad Rally, a battle mode where players can race against another player's time and Remix 10, where the player has to play through a series of 10 short courses multiple times as part of a quest to rescue Princess Daisy. In the game, Mario is constantly moving to the right and the player can make him jump by tapping the screen. Some brief establishing shots of various locales don't pop with the same clarity and precision as the bulk of the presentation, something that again wasn't as evident on the 1080p version and which makes me think there may have been some brief usage of existing stock footage.Super Mario Run is an automatic runner platformer game for mobile devices. The later sequence in the jail has some interesting new tones in the brown and beige ranges that aren't as evident in the 1080p version. The daytime beach scenes with Alba boast some nicely gradated blues and teals and the nighttime scenes offering good new shadow detail. The best thing about this UHD version is the newly variegated palette. Those anomalies calm down for the bulk of the presentation, and while detail levels are excellent in close-ups, some of the green screened material actually looks more artificial in its 2160p iteration. That newly nuanced palette is on display from the get go, with some luscious scenes of Rio, but there are also a couple of odd motion artifacts in the opening sequence that I didn't notice in the 1080p version, including brief jitter as a plane traverses the skies above Rio and even later (and perhaps even more oddly) around Statham's head when he first sits down at the outdoor cafe where the film's first fight scene takes place. Once again the IMDb doesn't have any data on either the resolution of the source format or of the subsequent DI, but a couple of websites suggest this was finished at a 2K DI, something I'm prone to believe considering that this presentation delivers very good but at times unexceptional upticks in detail levels, while gaining some of its most convincing new information from a better accounting of its palette, now accentuated with (by?) HDR. Mechanic: Resurrection is presented on 4K UHD by Lionsgate Films with a 2160p transfer in 2.38:1.
